“For premium rose I wanted a unique bottle and the logic choice was Hrastnik1860. It was a pure pleasure to work with local Slovenian masters, without trying to find someone abroad.“

GAŠPER ČARMAN

Used with this

As a base for Markiza Rosé by Gašper Wines our existing ANTARES design was used.

A Rosé Worth Creating

When Gašper Čarman, founder of Gašper Wines, first tasted a sample of rosé from the barrel at Klet Brda, he knew it deserved a place in his wine collection.

Produced from carefully selected Merlot grapes grown in higher-lying vineyards in Slovenia’s Goriška Brda region, Markiza was conceived as a premium, Provence-style rosé.

The winemaking process follows a carefully controlled method. The grapes are first cooled with dry ice to help prevent oxidation, then destemmed and pressed within two hours. Fermentation takes place over ten days at 16°C, followed by six months of maturation in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

The result is a pale pink, dry rosé that reflects the freshness and character of its grape variety.

For Čarman, the wine called for something more distinctive than a conventional bottle. The packaging needed to reflect Markiza’s premium positioning while remaining connected to the visual identity of Gašper Wines.

Working with designer Jasna Andrič and Vaider Group (formerly HRASTNIK1860), he set out to create a bottle with details developed specifically for the wine.

The Fish Beneath

Fish have long been a recognisable element of the Gašper Wines identity, reflecting the Čarman family’s connection to wine and hospitality.

For Markiza, the idea was to incorporate this motif directly into the glass rather than relying solely on printed decoration.

The solution was an unusually deep bottle punt featuring embossed fish. Positioned beneath the bottle, the relief creates a distinctive optical effect as light passes through the glass and the pale rosé.

Developing the punt required considerable technical expertise. Its depth and detailed embossing had to be carefully incorporated into the bottle’s geometry to achieve the intended visual effect while ensuring the design could be manufactured.

The result gives the fish motif a different dimension. Rather than appearing only as a graphic element, it becomes part of the bottle itself, revealed through the interplay of glass, wine and light.

Finish for Markiza

The bottle’s decoration was developed to complement the embossed punt and give Markiza a recognisable appearance.

Instead of using a conventional paper label, the design incorporates decoration applied directly to the glass. This allows the artwork and the bottle to work together, extending the underwater theme established by the fish beneath the base.

The clear glass also allows the delicate colour of the rosé to remain visible, making the wine itself part of the overall presentation.

Markiza demonstrates how an existing collection bottle can be adapted to suit a particular brand. Through the collaboration between Gašper Čarman, designer Jasna Andrič and Vaider Group’s glassmaking specialists, the bottle gained its own character without requiring an entirely new shape.

The bottle design is based on Antares, a universal model from the Vaider Group collection. Its customised punt and decoration show how individual details can turn a collection bottle into packaging closely associated with one wine.
